Welding Screens
If you are a welder by profession or you are a weekend welding warrior in your own shop you’ll need some items to stay safe. Welding screens will shield any of the sparks that are discharged from anything welded. This is important as the sparks can cause fires to start. Welding screens can protect the welder from harmful UV rays which is prevalent during arc welding.
The screens also can stop welding flash as well as contain fumes emitted when welding. By using welding screens you can concentrate on your welding without having to worry about the sparks causing a fire. Therefore you will be concentrated on the welding which can be a job that needs the utmost attention. It does not matter what type of welding is done welding screens should be used to make sure that the welding area is safe.
If there are items that you want to protect from the sparks created during welding, you can craft your own screen. Many are made with aluminum frames which can hinge together so you can make your own space in whatever shape you want. You can place these types of welding frames in the position you want to protect against fire hazards which can come from arc welding, grinding sparks, or flame cutting.
You can easily form them into any shape you need. There are some that have optional casters so the screen can be moved easily in one piece. Welding screens can also come in many different sizes deepening on how much area you want to protect from your welding. These types of hinge-able welding frames have an under-over leg design which allows for adjacent panels to be put in angles of your choosing. For the strength and rigidity there are gussets provided.
Many include colored PVC pipes; grommet and button head screw mounts, and finished hems. Generally welding screens block 100 percent UV light and have are made from a special material which is called Weldview Passes Less Light Polyester Fabric. It is weld spatter resistant. This is important as the welding screens have been tested and given a safety measure ensuring their safety towards fire hazards.
Amber, Aztec Red, and assorted shades of yellow are the colors that the screens come in. Although the color isn’t that important is it vital that people around you realize that when they see the colored screen you are using a welder.
Safety is the most important thing when you are using any tool. This is true of a welder as well. Put up welding screens every time you weld to ensure that everyone stays safe.
